The only information that BrainTrain4Kids.com gets from visitors like you is the information that they give us. When we need information from you, for example if we need your name and email address to contact you about taking a survey, we will ask you to give us that information. The parents of any Junior Scientist must give permission for their child to participate in our study or to use our website. We will never give anyone else any information you give us (like your name or email address) unless you ask us to. The only information we will share with anyone else will be about how junior scientists like you use the site,. For example, we can say that 5 scientists completed Station 2 today, but we will not use your name or any information that you give us. We are very careful about not letting other people see the information that you give us and we store any information that you give us in a safe place. Parents of Junior Scientists can see the information that their child has given BrainTrain4Kids.com and can also take that information off of the website. We do not let Junior Scientists or other visitors to our site talk to or interact with other visitors. We have places on this site where people can put in an email address so we can send a page from our site to that address. We do not keep that email address and we do not use it again. The email says that it is from BrainTrain4Kids.com and that someone else gave us the email address. Other than that, we do not send emails to Junior Scientists or their parents unless they ask for an answer to a question about something on the website. Our servers keep track of IP Address of all the computers that our visitors use. And, if asked, we can use this to identify a certain computer. Clinical Tools, Inc., the company that made BrainTrain4Kids.com does not store anything on your computer (like cookies).
Privacy Act Notice
In addition to your rights as a participant in this Federally funded research study, you have additional protections under the Privacy Act. The Privacy Act (Public Law 93-579) requires every Federal Agency to inform each individual why personal information is requested and how it will be used. The National Institutes of Health conducts research by authority of the U. S. Congress, the Public Health Act (42 U.S. Code 241(b)(1)(o). The information you are asked to supply on the enclosed forms will be used to allow Clinical Tools and the National Institute on Drug Abuse/NIH evaluate the effectiveness of the BrainTrain4Kids.com website and materials associated with the website. You will not be asked to provide your social security number. All information provided is completely voluntary. Failure to respond may limit your participation in the research study, but there are no other consequences of choosing not to respond, nor are there any consequences to not participating in the research study. The information will not be disclosed, without your prior written consent, to anyone who is not an employee of the Department of Health and Human Services or part of the Clinical Tools research team.
